Anežka Bartlová

Anežka Bartlová (*1988) lives and works in Prague, she gained master’s degree on Charles University (Dept. of Art History) and Academy of Art, Architecture and Design in Prague (Dept. Theory and History of Art) and PhD. at Dept of Art history and theory of Academy of Fine Arts in Prague.
Anežka Bartlová won Věra Jirousová Award for emerging art critics in 2014; she is an editor of handbook Manual of the monuments (Manuál monumentu, 2016) and published her PhD. under title Conditions and assumptions (Podmínky a předpoklady, AVU, 2023) on Czechoslovak art criticism in the 1960s. She worked as editorial staff at Art Antiques magazine (2016–2018) and in academic journal The Notebook for Art, Theory and Related Zones (2018–2022, VVP AVU). She is active art critic and since 2022 also editor-in-chief at Czech online art magazine Artalk.info. Anežka Bartlová is a member of solidary artistic platform for communication Spolek Skutek and collaborates with an initiative Feminist (art) institution. She is lecturer at Center for audiovisual studies of the Film and TV Faculty of Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (CAS FAMU).
As a guest-in-residence of TEMPORARS SUSCH in February 2025, Anežka Bartlová is taking part in a weekend of inquiry. Together with resident author Noemi Smolik we will go into a winterly journey of shared thinking about art.
