Becca Voelcker is a writer and historian of art, film and visual culture. Currently she is a lecturer at Goldsmiths, University of London. She earned her PhD in the Department of Art, Film, and Visual Studies at Harvard University in 2021. Her dissertation, Land Cinema in the Neoliberal Age, studies a global corpus of films made by gardener-filmmakers and farmer-filmmakers in the 1970s and 80s that constitute contributions to Marxist and environmental thought. Based on this, her forthcoming book Land Cinema in an Age of Extraction is about to be published by University of California Press. Before Harvard, Becca studied at Goldsmiths, University of London, and the University of Cambridge. Between 2013-15 she was based in Tokyo, Japan, as a Daiwa Scholar. Her current research traces aspects of political economy through visual cultures, with a focus on architecture and film.

As a guest-in-residence of TEMPORARS SUSCH in June 2025, Becca is taking part in a weekend of exchanges. Together with resident author Kirsty Bell we will go into a summerly journey of shared thinking about art and beyond.
